Dermal fillers explained

Dermal fillers are designed to restore volume, improve structure, and enhance facial balance. They’re commonly used in areas such as the lips, cheeks, jawline, and chin.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that fillers are only about adding size. In reality, they are often used to replace volume that has been lost over time. As we age, fat pads shift and diminish, leading to changes in contour. Restoring this can create a more refreshed appearance without looking overdone.

A structured approach is important. Treating a single area in isolation can sometimes look unnatural. For example, enhancing the lips without considering chin or jawline balance may not give the best result.

Product choice and technique are critical. Different areas require different types of filler, with varying thickness and flexibility. Placement also matters. Subtle adjustments at the right depth can create definition without heaviness.

Less is often more. Starting conservatively and building gradually allows for better control of the final outcome. It also reduces the risk of an unnatural appearance.

When done well, fillers shouldn’t be obvious. They should simply restore what was there before, or refine what is already present.
